GC Golf Atop Field at Bearcat Invitational After Two Rounds
GREENWOOD, S.C. – The No. 20 Georgia College golf team shot a first-day 682 team score on its way to the lead with one round to play in the Bearcat Invitational Golf Classic hosted by Lander University. The Bobcats shot 295 after the first round and 288 after the second in the 17-team field at the 7,133 yard, par-72 Patriot at Grand Harbor Golf Course Saturday.
Senior Bryan Fox (Roswell, Ga.) finished tied-fourth in the 88-golfer field with a par 144 total, with a first-round three-over par 75 and second-round three-under 69.
Freshman Nicolas Falkinhoff (Buenos Aires, Argentina) finished tied-seventh with 145 total, shooting one-over par 73 in round one and par in round two.
Freshman Conner Albright (Macon, Ga.) finished third for Georgia College and tied-19th overall. Albright was two-over par in the first round and three-over par in the second round for a 149 total.
Junior Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) was tied-34th on the day overall. He had a seven-over par 79 in the morning, followed by a par-72 in the afternoon for a 161 total.
Senior Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) finished tied-40th overall tying Falkinoff with the Bobcats best morning score of one-over par 73, Monte shot a seven-over par 79 to round out the slate.
Fox, Falkinoff, Albright and Monte's were the top four scorers for the first round, while Fox, Falkinoff, Albright and Trocchio factored in the second-round scoring.
Behind the Bobcats are No. 9 Columbus State University (587), University of Mount Olive (588), Clayton State University (589) and the University of Montevallo (591) to round out the top-five.
The tournament concludes after one more round tomorrow morning.
