GC Golf Alum Earns Journalism Award

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College golf alum Kyle Collins was recently honored for his work at the Union Recorder, Milledgeville's daily newspaper.

Collins took First Place from the Georgia Press Association (GPA) in feature writing for Daily Division C.

In addition to his duties at the local paper, Collins is an assistant coach for the Bobcat Golf program and has been for the past five years.

Collins played for the Bobcats for two seasons after transferring from Division I Mercer University. Over his GC career, he started in 21 tournaments, a total of 56 rounds. Collins had a 76.3 stroke average, his best finish coming at the largely-Division I Presbyterian Invitational in 2007, taking fifth among 90 golfers.

The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level.
