Bobcat Golf in the Hunt after Two Rounds at Jay Jennison Cup

ST. AUGUSTINE. Fl. – Georgia College Golf came out strong with a team score of just two over par in the first two rounds at the Jay Jennison Cup.

A team score of two over par lands the Bobcats in a tie for sixth place and 14 shots back of the leading Argonauts of the University of West Florida who compiled an exceptional total score of 12 under par.

Georgia Colleges' strong opening day was led by senior Conner Albright (Macon, Ga.) who carded a three under par 69 in his first round, followed up by a one over par 73. His two under par performance was good enough to place him tied for 10th out of a 88-player field. Albright is five shots back of the leader Nick Stafford of Belmont Abbey College who is currently alone at the top of the leaderboard at seven under par.

Albright was followed up by a solid score of one over par by fellow Bobcat senior Thomas Knight (Eastman, Ga.) finishing round two tied for 24th. Knight recorded a round one score of a two over par 74, but then came back with a nice round of one under par 71 to give him a total of one over par for the day.

Third for Georgia College was junior Thomas Hodges (Monroe, Ga.) who recoded a nice round of one under par in round one, but followed it up with a five over par 77 to earn him a four over par score and a tie for 39th after the first two rounds. Matching Hodges score of four over for the day was senior Harry Lambert (Suwanee, Ga.) who was consistent Monday in recording a pair of two over par 74's. Just behind Lambert and Hodges was senior Harrison Stewart (Roswell, Ga.) who shot a 77 in round one, and came back nicely with a round of even par to finish second round at five over par and tied for 47th.

The Bobcats are just six shots behind the second place Barry University Buccaneers and look to make a final round surge up the leaderboard at the Jay Jennison Cup Tuesday, Sept. 20.
