ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia College Golf alum Taylor Smith (2013) continues to have a great summer, as the former Bobcat All-American followed up a Georgia Mid-Amateur Championship in May by taking eighth at the 2018 Georgia Amateur Championship.
Smith bookended sub-par rounds and finished one-under for the four-round tourney. He began with his best score, a 67 in round one. After a second-round 74, he shot an even 70 in round three. The former Bobcat finished strong with a 68 in the final round. The tournament was held at the 6883-yard, par-70 Athens Country Club.
Smith had a standout career for Bobcat Golf, reaching Honorable Mention All-America status in 2011-12 and taking a spot on the All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) team twice. Smith ranked seventh in Bobcat Golf history with a 74.08 career stroke average.
