MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Senior guard Shaun Keaton (Albany, Ga.) of the Georgia College & State University men's basketball team (22-6) was named the GCSU Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 8. This is the fifth honor for Keaton and the seventh for the Bobcat men's team this season.
Keaton had two amazing games at the Peach Belt Tournament, hitting for a career-high 34 points in the win over North Georgia, and adding 20 in the loss to eventual champion Augusta State University. He hit six threes and nabbed five rebounds in the 34-point game, the most scored by a Bobcat since 1995. Keaton got 8-of-9 from the line against ASU, adding five more boards.
The Bobcats begin the NCAA Southeast Region Tournament Saturday, March 14 at 8:30 p.m. traveling to Augusta, Ga. to take on Barton College.
