Bobcat Men’s Hoops Inks Bell

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Georgia College & State University men's basketball program and head coach Terry Sellers announced the signing of Joey Bell today (May 6).

Bell comes to Milledgeville from First Presbyterian Christian Academy in Hinesville, Ga., where he played for head coach Darrell West.

"Joey is a 6-foot-2 athletic guard who can play on both ends of the floor," said Sellers. "He had a very good high school career at FPCA and we believe he has a chance to be a special player here at GCSU. Joey is a hard worker with high character and will fit in well with our returning players. We are thrilled that he has decided to continue his career as a Bobcat."

Bell averaged 20.6 points, 4.6 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.1 steals per game where he was a four-year starter and the school's all time leading scorer (over 1,500 points). He was named to the GISA All-State Team as well as Team MVP three consecutive years. Bell helped his team win back-to-back GISA A State Championships (2008 & 2009) which are held at Georgia College's Centennial Center.

The Bobcats are fresh off a 22-7 season in 2008-2009. GCSU made a trip back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2006 and had its third 20-win season in the past four years.  The Bobcats lose a trio of seniors including Shaun Keaton (2006-09) who was named All-Peach Belt Conference First Team and NABC/NCAA All-Southeast Region First Team.
