MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Senior guard Ty Rowland (Lilburn, Ga.) of the No. 14 Georgia College & State University men's basketball team (18-2, 11-0 PBC) was named GCSU Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 7. This marks the first such honor for Rowland and the fifth for the Bobcat men's basketball team this season.
Rowland continues to be one of the top point guards in program history, adding a bit of scoring punch this week as well. The senior averaged 18.0 points and 7.0 assists per contest over two games. He scored 18 against North Georgia Wednesday on 6-11 shooting and 4-6 behind the arc, adding six assists to become the top man in assists during the NCAA era of basketball at Georgia College and fourth overall.
Against Clayton State, his play was key in a second half comeback, with 18 points on 5-8 shooting and 3-6 from downtown, with eight assists and not a single turnover. He had just one turnover in 76 minutes of play last week.
The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. traveling to No. 11 Augusta State University.
