MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Senior guard Jake Rios (Bozeman, Mt.) of the No. 18 Georgia College & State University men's basketball team (5-1) was named GCSU Athlete of the Week for his efforts during the week ending Dec. 6. This is the first such honor for Rios and the third for Bobcat men's basketball this season.
Against Carver Bible College last week, Rios knocked down a school record 13 threes, tying the previous school mark with 11 in the first half. The senior played just under four minutes in the second half, or may have caught a pair of other records. He fell one shy of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) best for threes in a game, and just three behind the Division II record. Rios' 39 points ranks tied for fourth in school history, and set the most in the NCAA-era of men's basketball at Georgia College.
The Bobcats look to get back to the winning ways Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 4 p.m. when they travel to Newberry College.
