MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Using four double-digit scorers and one of the best defensive efforts of the season, the Georgia College men's basketball team (12-7, 5-5 PBC) won its fourth straight, toppling the University of Montevallo (15-6, 6-4 PBC) 67-59 Wednesday night in the Centennial Center.
Senior Ryan Aquino (Roswell, Ga.) led the team with 18 points, adding seven rebounds and three assists. Classmates Mike Augustine (Waterloo, Ill.) and Jared Holmes (Indianapolis) chipped in 14 points each, with junior Scott Ferguson (Roswell, Ga.) adding 10 points and eight boards.
The Bobcats out-shot the Falcons 34 percent (18-53) to 30 percent (22-74), including holding Montevallo to just 2-of-17 from three-point range. UM hung in there with a 49-42 rebounding advantage, including a massive 28-16 tally on the offensive glass.
GC held all Falcons to single-digit scoring save one, as Antoine Davis put up 19 points with eight rebounds to lead his team in both categories.
The Bobcats are back in action on "Showcase Saturday", Feb. 4 at 3:30 p.m., battling Georgia Southwestern State University in the Centennial Center. Saturday will also be March of Dimes Day.
