Georgia College Men’s Basketball Inks Blumenthal

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College men’s basketball program and head coach Terry Sellers announced the signing of Ryan Blumenthal Tuesday.

Blumenthal, a 6-foot-2 guard, comes to Georgia College from Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Ga. Ryan averaged 17.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this past season. He shot 49 percent from the field, 44 percent from beyond the arc and 79 percent from the free throw line.

“Ryan had a terrific career at Harrison and he is a big-time winner,” said Sellers. “Blumenthal is smart, tough, and has played well against the top competition in the state of Georgia. We were looking to bring in an off-guard and Blumenthal addresses that need. Ryan is a blue-collar player who fits in perfect with our program and University.”

Harrison, under head coach Robert Churchwell, had its best season, advancing to the AAAAA (Georgia’s largest classification) Final 4. Blumenthal was named the Cobb County Player of the Year. He was also named First Team All Region (4AAAAA), First Team All State (Coaches Poll) and Second Team All State (Georgia Sports Writers). He finished his career as Harrison’s All Time Leading Scorer with 1,232 points.

The Bobcats are fresh off a 17-10 season finishing fifth in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC). The Bobcats lose three seniors including First Team All-Region and All-PBC forward Ryan Aquino, Jared Holmes and Mike Augustine.
