Men's Basketball Drops Close Contest with #8 USC Aiken

MILLEDGEVILE, Ga.- Georgia College Men's Basketball (5-5, 0-4 PBC) came close to upsetting #8 USC Aiken (11-0, 5-0 PBC), but fell short losing 92-90 in a back and forth battle.

The game was close from start to finish with neither team leading by more than eight points during the game. GC led for most of the first half and went into halftime with a one point edge over the Pacers.

The second half was an epic back-and-forth battle with several lead changes, scoring runs, and big shots. With just over a minute left, the Bobcats trailed by eight points, but quick three pointers by Jordan Thomas (Conyers) and Chapin Rierson (Calhoun) cut the deficit to just two points. A big basket by Doniel Dean with under 30 seconds left secured the victory for the Pacers.

The game was a fast-paced, emotional, and intense throughout, with technical fouls being issued towards Aiken in each half.

Isaac Thomas (Trion) had a monster game, recording 22 points, nine rebounds, and adding three steals. Kohl Roberts (Atlanta) had 17 points and seven rebounds. Wesley Simpson (McDonough) played a crucial role off the bench, scoring 10 points, dishing out six assists, and adding six rebounds as well.

Georgia College got production from all over the floor, with all five starters scoring in double figures.

The Bobcats' season continues on Jan. 5 at 3:30 p.m. on the road against Flagler College.
