MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The No. 4 men's tennis team at Georgia College & State University (9-1, 5-0 PBC) smashed Mount Olive College 9-0 today (March 12).
The Bobcats jumped out to an early 3-0 lead winning all three double matches.
The Sao Paulo twosome of Joao Casagrande and Francis Yoshimoto defeated Alexandre Queiros and Daniel Mosteanu 8-2 at second doubles. Rounding out the doubles action, Max Beliankou (Minsk, Belarus) and Giovane Nucci (Santa Catarina, Brazil) won 8-4 over Diogo Miranda and Diogo Sender.
Siqueria defeated Queiros 6-2, 6-1 at the number one singles match. Siqueria moves to 5-4 in singles play on the year.
Pickham upended Mosteanu 6-1, 6-0. The Australian native is now 7-2 during 2009 competition.
At third singles, Yoshimoto beat Barros 6-0, 6-1. Yoshimoto has won seven straight singles matches improving to 9-1 on the season.
Beliankou got the win over Pelegrino 6-2, 6-3 which puts him 8-2 on the season.
With a 6-2, 6-1 Nucci victory over Sender, Nucci is now 5-3 in singles action this year.
Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) won his second-straight match in consecutive days. Bernardes won the first set 6-2 and was up 3-0 before Miranda retired.
The No.4 Bobcats have won seven matches in a row. Georgia College is back in action Saturday, March 14 against the No. 16 Lander University Bearcats at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility with matches starting at 1 p.m.
