MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - No. 4 Georgia College & State University's men's tennis (13-2) bounced back after losing yesterday (April 3) and swatted the SCAD Bees (7-3) 7-2 today (April 4) at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility. The Bobcats are now 7-1 at home this season.
The Bobcats took control of the match in doubles action as they swept the three games.
Erick Siqueria (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Justin Pickham (Armidale, Australia) edged Dumitru Chiriacov and Jan Menzen 9-8 at first doubles. Pickham and Siqueira are now 13-1 on the year. Second doubles saw similar results as the Sao Paulo duo of Francis Yoshimoto and Joao Casagrande defeated Willy Frei and Kaan Yaylali 9-8.
Siqueria improved to 10-4 in a win over Menzen 6-2, 6-4 at first singles. At second singles, Pickham was able to overcome dropping the first set by winning 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.
The Bobcats' Yoshimoto has dropped his past two matches and he lost 1-6, 6-0, 6-2 to Bees' Chiriacov. Yoshimoto falls to 12-3, a team lead in victories.
Number four singles saw Beliankou swat Frei 7-6, 6-0. Beliankou's doubles partner Bernardes, defeated Yaylali 6-4, 6-0 at fifth singles. Casagrande lost 7-6, 4-6, 10-7 to Draganescu at the sixth singles slot.
Georgia College travels to face Peach Belt Conference (PBC) foe North Georgia Friday, April 10 at 2:30 p.m.
