#11 Bobcats Devour Lions, 9-0

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College & State University men’s tennis team (7-4) shutout Concord University (0-1) 9-0 Tuesday at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.

The Bobcats mixed things up today with Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) playing first doubles, beating Andrew Iruthayarajah and Joao Mischiatti 8-3.

At second doubles, Tyler Franks (Eatonton, Ga.) paired with Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) to defeat Concord’s Leo Araujo and Armando Estevez 8-3, while Georgia College’s Bobby Angelucci (Acworth, Ga.) and Max Beliankou (Minsk, Belarus) downed Felix Corbella Riba and Filip Crvenkovic 8-2, giving the ‘Cats a 3-0 lead after doubles play.

In singles action, Leborgne kept things going for Georgia College winning 6-4 and 6-2 over Araujo. Slotted second, Wadstein swept Mischiatti 6-1 and 6-0, while Beliankou took Iruthayarajah 6-3 and 6-2. With the most Bobcat wins this season, Beliankou now sits at 8-2 in individual play.

At fourth singles, Bernardes blanked Estevez in 6-0 sets, improving to 7-2 for the 2010 campaign. Bobcat freshman Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) claimed fifth singles, defeating Riba 6-1 and 6-2, while Franks overpowered Crvenkovic 6-3 and 6-2.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, March 13 hosting Lander University at 1 p.m.
