MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College & State University men’s and women’s tennis programs both landed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) National and Southeast Regional Rankings, as announced recently by the organization.
The Bobcat men (12-5, 5-3 PBC) fell from No. 11 to No. 14 in the national poll, while the Bobcat women (8-9, 4-6 PBC) jumped one spot to No. 30. In the Southeast, the men slipped from third to fifth, while the women held on to the seventh position.
For the women, senior Diane Danna (Paris) climbed into both the national and regional polls, claiming the 48th and 15th spots, respectively in singles play.
In singles action for the men, Max Beliankou (Minsk, Belarus) joined the best in the nation slotted 49th, while moving up from No. 16 to No. 14 in the southeast. The senior’s young teammates, sophomore Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) and freshman Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) were also list in the region rankings at 19th and 20th, respectively.
The Bobcat women host Brenau University today (April 7) beginning at 2 p.m. Both teams are in action Thursday, traveling to Anderson University for a 3 p.m. start.
