# 12 Bobcat Men Claw-Out Victory Over # 19 Augusta State, 5-4

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 12 Georgia College men's tennis team (6-1, 2-1 PBC) earned a hard-fought win over rival No. 19 Augusta State University (6-3, 0-2 PBC) 5-4 Friday afternoon at the Centennial Center Tennis Complex. 

The Bobcats fell behind early, dropping two-of-three doubles pairings.  The lone win came from the team of Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) and Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France), who took down No. 13 Henrique Boturao and Bernardo Fernandes by a score of 8-5. 

ASU's Victor Guimaraes and Victor Cabellos beat Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Tyler Franks (Greensboro, Ga.) 8-4, and Maxime Coulomb and Jenner Stevenson toppled Robert Angelucci (Acworth, Ga.) and Tobias Rausch (Mannheim, Germany) 9-7. 

On the singles side, GC used great efforts from their top four players to steal the win from Augusta State.  

Wadstein led things off with a victory over No. 37 Fernandes, defeating him in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.  Bernardes would take down Victor Cabellos 7-6, 0-6, 6-3 in the third pairing. 

The match of the day was between Leborgne and Boturao.  After over three hours of playing, Leborgne finally sealed the comeback victory 6-7, 6-4, 6-4. 

The clinching matchup was won by Rausch, who took down Guimaraes 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 in an emotionally-charged atmosphere.

Losses came for Franks in fifth singles to Rafael Milhati 6-4, 6-4 and for sixth slot Mario Cardenas (Kennesaw, Ga.) 6-4, 6-2 to Stevenson. 

The Bobcats will not have long to savor this victory as they hit the road to take on No. 1 Barry University Sunday, Feb. 27 beginning at noon.
