MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Sophomore Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) of the Georgia College & State University tennis team was named Bobcat Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 19, the sports information office announced Tuesday.
Andersson swept through the Flight “B” Singles bracket to be crowned champion at the Windstream GCSU Fall Championships. He flew by Lander University's Matthew Leffler 6-4, 6-1 and then won the final against John Cappabianca in a match that went the distance 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. His doubles team with Tyler Franks (Greensboro, Ga.) won the title for the Flight “B” bracket defeating Lander's Cappabianca and Will Ream 8-2. They went on to defeat ABAC's Heitor Couri and Danilo Faria 8-1 and Bryant Anglin and Billy Griffin in the championship 8-2. Andersson won six matches on Saturday.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Sept. 24 at the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament in Sumter, S.C.
