MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College tennis program took time to give back to the community last Friday, helping out at Creekside Elementary School.
“This was a great experience for our team to make a difference in the community,” said head coach Steve Barsby. “This was a great opportunity to give back to the City of Milledgeville and it gave our program a chance to interact with local youths. Helping out is something we do often and we look to keep building our relationship with the community.”
The Bobcat men assisted in restoring Creekside’s playground by providing a helping hand removing railroad ties. The women lent a hand by running the school store. GC worked all afternoon trying to prep the playground and run school store but during their break they enjoyed a game of soccer with some of the students at Creekside.
The 2011 season saw the Georgia College Bobcats make their fifth straight appearance in the NCAA Regional Tournament. A season where GC was ranked as high as No. 9 in the country, put Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) and Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) on the All-PBC Second Team. The Bobcats look to continue their storied success in 2012.
