Bobcat Men’s Tennis Earns #4-seed at PBC Tournament
SUMTER, S.C. – The Georgia College men's tennis team (17-4) picked up the No. 4 seed at this weekend's Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament, the conference office announced. The Bobcats open the bracket taking on No. 5-seed Augusta State University (11-9) Friday, April 12 at 11 a.m.
The Bobcats and Jaguars met earlier this season, April 2, with Georgia College pulling off a 5-1 victory.
Georgia College has one returning All-PBC pick in Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) an All-American in doubles action a year ago. He is tied with junior Andreas Ainalides (Heusenstamm, Germany) for the team lead with 15 singles victories.
The Bobcats have shuffled doubles tandems frequently throughout the season, and of the current pairings, Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) and Yannick Hass (Troisdorf, Germany) own the best record at 8-4.
Top seed Armstrong will face No. 8-seed Flagler College in the opening round, with No. 3-seed Columbus State University battling No. 6-seed Francis Marion University. No. 2-seed Lander University will also face No. 7-seed USC Aiken.
The Bobcats went 1-1 at last year's tournament, beating FMU 5-3 before falling to eventual champion Armstrong 5-1. Georgia College is looking for its first PBC Tournament title.
