MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 18 Georgia College men's tennis team (6-2, 2-1 PBC) won a non-conference match against Concord University (3-2, 1-0 MEC), 9-0 Tuesday at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility. The Bobcats registered their third shutout of the season.

The Bobcats' first doubles pair of sophomore Yannick Hass (Troisdorf, Germany) and senior Alex Schubert (Frankfurt, Germany) needed an additional game than the other two Bobcat pairings. The first doubles team won 8-3 over Diogo Monteiro and Danny Fonrondona. Sophomore Taylor Powell (Martinez, Ga.) and freshman Anton Waern (Taby, Sweeden) won 8-2 at second doubles against Henry Boyle and Robert Camplan, while the third doubles team of freshman Kyle Kinsler (Suwanee, Ga.) and sophomore Mattia Campus (Concorezzo, Italy) also won 8-2 against Bill Wright and Shane Khanlarian.

The best matchup in singles play appeared to be at the first spot as Monteiro took more games in a set than any other Mountain Lion with four. After Haas took the first set 6-4 however, Monteiro had to retire due to injury.

The first to finish in singles play was Kinsler in the sixth position with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Wright. Powell closed out next at the fourth position 6-0, 6-2 against Boyle, clinching the team win. Campus put the Bobcats up 6-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 dismissing of Khanlarian in the fifth spot.

Hass increased the Bobcat lead to 7-0, before Waern beat Fonrondona, 6-2, 6-3 in the third position. Closing out the match in second singles was the squad's lone senior Schubert with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Camplan.

The men's tennis team returns to action Friday morning, March 14 at 11 a.m. against No. 37 Ferris State University at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
