Bobcat Men Land Four on PBC All-Academic List

MARTINEZ, Ga. - The Georgia College & State University men's cross country team and head coach Joe Samprone has capped a solid season with their top honor yet, putting a league-best four runners on the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Men's Cross Country All-Academic Team.

The four positions tie Francis Marion University for the most of any of the eight teams in the PBC.

Sophomore Daniel Horseman (Cohotta, Ga.) owns the team's best GPA with a 3.51 in outdoor education. His number ranks fifth on the team overall. Two-time All-PBC pick Josh Hollar (Canton, Ga.) is the only senior on the squad for Georgia College, owning a 3.32 in mathematics.

Junior Tim Cary (Monroe, Ga.) and sophomore Michael Heuett (Snellville, Ga.) complete the list for the Bobcats. Cary owns a 3.35 in economics, while Heuett posted a 3.20 in business.

The four listed doubles the number selected last season from Georgia College. Cary and Hollar were the two honorees a year ago.

The team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The PBC Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.
