MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College men’s and women’s cross country teams are ready to begin their quest for the 2011 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championship as they host the annual Bobcat Invitational to start the season this Friday, Sept. 2 at 6 p.m.
The GC women will play host to three other schools in Georgia Southwestern University, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and Young Harris College. The men will take on SCAD and Young Harris.
Both the men and women got off to a solid start last season finishing third in their debuts.
Senior Daniel Horseman (Cohutta, Ga.) leads a men’s squad that finished the 2010 season extremely well, finishing fourth at the PBC Championships and ninth at NCAA Southeast Regional. Horseman finished the two events eighth and 25th, respectively.
Sophomore Allison Lones (Kathleen, Ga.) heads the women’s squad after leading the team in her last six races of 2010.
The SCAD men return to open their season at the Bobcat Invitational after winning the event last year.
The SCAD women enjoyed success at last year’s Bobcat Invitational as well, finishing 2nd.
The Bobcats will have a week before their next race when they head across the country to compete in the UC Irvine Invitational Sept. 10.
