Bobcat Cross Country Releases 2014 Schedule

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College cross country program and head coach Joe Samprone have released the 2014 Bobcat Cross Country schedule, complete with two home events.

The season gets started with a dual race against Armstrong Atlantic State University Friday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. on GC's West Campus Cross Country Course.

Georgia College also plays host to the annual Bobcat Invitational Friday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m.

Sept. 20 features another trip to GRU Augusta, the second of three on the season. The Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky. is Oct. 4, while the Falcon Classic gives the Bobcats a preview of a postseason course Oct. 18.

Oct. 24 is the date for this season's Bridgestone-Pacer Invitational, as the Bobcats look to repeat as champions on both the men's and women's sides.

The final trip to Augusta, Ga. brings the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championship Nov. 8. Georgia College will look to improve upon a fifth place finish for the men, and eighth for the women.

The NCAA Southeast Regional Championship is Nov. 22 in Montevallo, Ala. The Bobcat men took eighth at this race in 2013, while the women were 10th.

The Bobcats are fresh off a great 2013 campaign. The men won three races during the regular season and took fifth place in the PBC Championship, while the women posted a win and three runner-up finishes with an eighth-place spot at the PBC meet. Returning for the women are the school record holders at both distances in rising junior Rachel Pasko (Jefferson, Ga.) and senior Allison Lones (Kathleen, Ga.). The men's lineup boasts seven strong rising juniors, led by Trevor Turner (Snellville, Ga.) and James Ryden (Atlanta).
