MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Sherquita Bostick (Florence, S.C.), Mandy Chandler (Covington, Ga.) and Anna Parker (Columbus, Ga.) of the Georgia College & State University softball team (27-15, 11-3 PBC) were named the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) player, pitcher and freshman of the week, respectively as announced today (March 31) by the conference office.

Bostick's second PBC Player of the Week honor came after hitting .391 last week with a 1.130 slugging percentage. The senior drilled five home runs in eight games last week. The reigning PBC Player of the Year hit .411 in six conference games, collecting all five of those home runs. She began with homers in both ends of a sweep at UNC Pembroke, and then had another in a split at No. 19 Francis Marion University. She finished with two round-trippers in the second game in a split at Armstrong Atlantic State University. Also had two doubles, 12 RBI, nine runs scored and drew five walks. Bostick is now second in the conference in slugging and third in RBI and homeruns.

This week's award is also Chandler's second PBC weekly honor for the 2009 season, after tossing two no-hitters. The senior made seven starts in eight games last week, going 4-2. Chandler got her first no-hitter against UNCP in the second game of a doubleheader, striking out four, and her second in the opener against AASU, striking out eight. The righty had three shutouts in her seven starts, reaching double-digit strikeouts twice with 11 against Catawba and 14 against Pembroke. She struck out 54 in 41.2 innings pitched, holding batters to a .175 average. The Bobcat ace leads the league in strikeouts by nearly 200 over second place.

Parker earned her first PBC Freshman of the Week title by recording two home runs and one double this week. In game two against UNCP Thursday, she went 2-for-4 in the 9-0 win with two runs and three RBI off of a double and a round-tripper. Saturday, the catcher hit her second dinger of the week in the 3-1 victory over Francis Marion. Parker shares the team high of seven home runs for the season.

The Bobcats are back in action, Wednesday, April 1 as they host conference opponent No. 3 North Georgia for a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
