INDIANAPOLIS - The Georgia College & State University softball team (25-17, 11-3 PBC) continues to appear in the No. 4 slot of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Rankings as announced today (April 1).
The Bobcats had rested in the No. 4 spot for two weeks in a row, with a regional record of 21-14 for the season. Six teams are selected for the NCAA Regional Tournament with three automatic bids going to the three conference tournament champions. With two fellow Peach Belt Conference (PBC) squads sitting the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, the No. 4 ranking could be a vital one for the Bobcats.
Georgia College is also just outside the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top-25, getting 36 votes as the top team outside the 25 slots.
Coming off of a strong week, Georgia College will look to its seniors to help maintain a strong regional ranking. Sherquita Bostick (Florence, S.C.) proved her All-American status this week, hitting two doubles and five home runs in the campaign. Mandy Chandler (Covington, Ga.) recorded two no-hitters this week, while climbing to seventh in Division II career strikeouts with 1,123, just 46 outside of sixth.
The Bobcats are back in action, Saturday, April 4 as they travel to St. Andrews Presbyterian College for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
