MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Senior centerfielder Sherquita Bostick (Florence, S.C.) of the Georgia College & State University softball team was named GCSU Athlete of the Week for the Week ending April 12. This is the first such honor for Bostick and the second for the Bobcat softball team this season.
Bostick takes her first weekly award after hitting .538 in four games last week with three home runs, six RBIs and eight runs scored. The senior went 4-for-6 in a doubleheader against Columbus State University, homering once in each game and driving in three. She then tripled and homered against Clark Atlanta University. For the week, Bostick had a 1.385 slugging percentage and .571 on-base percentage. She leads the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) in slugging and triples while second in home runs, third in RBIs and fifth in batting average.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, April 17 at 1:30 p.m. traveling to the PBC Tournament in Florence, S.C. As the No. 2 seed, Georgia College will face the winner of No. 7-seed Francis Marion University and No. 10-seed Lander University.
