Bobcat Softball Takes No. 4 in Region Poll Three Weeks Straight
By Katie Parker, sports information graduate assistant
INDIANAPOLIS - The Georgia College & State University softball team (30-18, 12-4 PBC) claimed the No. 4 spot in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Rankings for the third straight week.
The Bobcats have rested No. 4 for three weeks in a row, with a regional record of 23-14 for the 2009 campaign. Six teams are selected for the NCAA Regional Tournament with three automatic bids going to the three conference tournament champions. With two fellow Peach Belt Conference (PBC) squads sitting in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, the No. 4 ranking could be a vital one for the Bobcats.
Georgia College also received votes again this week for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top-25, hauling in six votes this time.
The Bobcats are back in action, Monday, April 13 as they look to dethrone No. 3 North Georgia at the Peeler Complex with a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
