MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Reigning Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Player of the Year Sherquita Bostick (Florence, S.C.) of the No. 20 Georgia College & State University softball team (6-1, 2-0 PBC) took the season's first conference player of the week, the PBC announced today (Feb. 10).
The senior began the 2009 season by hitting .471 in five games this weekend. The outfielder went 8-for-17 at the Aiken Early Bird Tournament, driving in seven runs and scoring seven more while hitting two home runs. She went 4-for-4 with four RBI, a triple and a home run in a win over the University of Charleston (W.V). Bostick had a 1.000 slugging percentage and .500 on-base percentage in the five games with a stolen base.
The Bobcat home opener is Saturday, Feb. 14 with a doubleheader against Wingate University beginning at noon. Wingate swept the last meeting with the Bobcats in March 2008 1-0 and 3-0.
