MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Featuring three in-state opponents, Georgia College & State University softball and head coach Ginger Chaffinch received its assignment for the season-opening GSW Tournament, hosted by Georgia Southwestern State University.
The Bobcats begin the five-game weekend schedule with a Friday afternoon contest against Albany State University Feb. 5 at 4:30 p.m. Georgia College then packs in three games Saturday, Feb. 6, starting with Brewton Parker College at 9 a.m., Valdosta State University at 1 p.m. and Bluefield State College at 3 p.m. The three-day event wraps up against Anderson University Sunday, Feb. 7 at noon.
Coming off one of the top seasons in recent memory, the Bobcats were 32-24 in 2009, taking second in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC), matching their highest finish in school history. The Bobcats had two All-Americans and made an NCAA Tournament appearance for the fourth straight season. Plenty of fresh faces appear on the 2010 roster, as nine newcomers look to make an immediate impact on one of the elite Division II programs in the southeast.
