MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Georgia College & State University softball team and head coach Ginger Chaffinch wrapped up the Second Annual GCSU Softball Olympics today (Oct. 9) with defending champions team ooh-OOH!!! taking the title once again.
The GCSU Softball Olympics consists of six events over two days at the Peeler Complex, as the Bobcat softball squad breaks off into teams of three to compete against each other.
Designed as a fun diversion from the normal practice grind in the fall, the Softball Olympics is a way for the Bobcats and the coaching staff to let loose and show off their skills. Team ooh-OOH!!! is the coaching trio of coach Chaffinch, assistant coach Katie Mlady and graduate assistant coach Kelly Miller.
The six areas of competition include: long toss, home-to-home run, outfield throw, hitting competition, bunting competition, and the Home Run/Line Drive Derby.
Team ooh-OOH!!! came in first with 18 points including victories in the long-toss and outfield throw competitions.
The GCSU Department of Athletics, winners of the 2008-09 PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 10 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level.
