GC Softball Updates Schedule for Early Season Tournaments

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College softball team and head coach Jamie Madewell-Grodecki have announced the schedule for a pair of early season tournaments.

The 2011 season starts at the Georgia Southwestern State University tournament Friday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 5 at the GSW campus as well as Southland Academy Field.  The Bobcats are set to play a doubleheader both days, beginning Friday with Albany State University at 2 p.m. followed by No. 2 Valdosta State University at 5 p.m.  The Saturday pairing includes a 10 a.m. game with Brewton Parker College followed by a 1 p.m. matchup with Anderson University.

A few weeks later the GC softball team will travel to Huntsville, Ala. where they will participate in 2011 University of Alabama-Huntsville Charger Chillout.  The Bobcats will play three straight days of double-headers beginning Friday, Feb. 18 at 10:30 a.m. against Delta State University.  That will be followed by a 12:30 p.m. game against the University of Indianapolis.  Saturday, Feb. 19 the Bobcats will square off against Florida Tech at 10:30 a.m. and have a slight break before battling the University of Southern Indiana at 4:30 p.m. The tournament will come to a close Sunday, Feb. 20 following matchups against Barry University at 11 a.m. and tournament host No. 19 UAH at 3 p.m.

These two tournaments should provide the Bobcats with excellent competition that will prepare them for their difficult Peach Belt Conference (PBC) slate.
