COLUMBUS, Ga. – Three Georgia College softball (25-23, 9-11 PBC) student-athletes got the nod for All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) honors as announced by the conference Friday night at the PBC’s year-end banquet in Columbus.
Sophomores Whitney Okvist (Kennesaw, Ga.) and Kelsea Martin (Dacula, Ga.) received First Team All-Conference, while senior Haley Burnett (Columbus, Ga.) received Second Team honors.
Okvist earned an outfield spot, hitting .408 this season, including a team-high 53 runs scored and a conference-leading 51-of-51 on the base paths. This marks her second PBC nod in as many years.
Martin earned honors as a utility player, batting .325 for the Bobcats including 24 RBI and 20 runs scored. This is her first such honor.
Listed as second-team designated player, Burnett is hitting .342 this season with a team-leading 37 RBI, including nine doubles and five home runs. This is her third PBC All-Conference nod in her career.
The trio gives GC 35 All-PBC honorees all-time. Okvist is the eighth outfielder, giving the Bobcats a slot in the outfield for the past five seasons. Burnett is the first in school history to win two all-conference awards at DP in school history.
The No. 7-seed Bobcats will face-off against No. 2-seed North Georgia (43-7, 17-3 PBC) Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in Columbus, Ga.
