MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Sophomore outfielder Whitney Okvist (Kennesaw, Ga.) of the Georgia College softball team (23-19, 7-7 PBC) was named the most recent Bobcat Athlete of the Week for her performance during the week ending April 1.
Okvist had a phenomenal week for the Bobcats. The sophomore finished 11-for-17 (.647) with four RBI, six runs scored and one triple. She was also 5-for-5 on the basepaths, passing Leigh Jacobs (1995-98) for first place with 72 on the all-time steals list for GC. Okvist had her best game against Young Harris College, recording a 6-for-6 effort, with three RBI and three runs scored to go along with three stolen bags. She now leads the Bobcats with a .420 batting average and has yet to have been caught on the bases, a perfect 48-of-48.
The Bobcats are back in action Thursday, April 5 at 4 p.m., traveling to Columbus State University.
