MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Having been already named to the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) All-Academic Team, Georgia College softball’s senior utility Caitlin Duvall (Douglasville, Ga.) added another honor recently, being named Capital One Academic All-District.
Duvall earned an outfield spot on the District 3 list for Division II, including softball players in the PBC, South Atlantic Conference and Conference Carolinas.
Owning a 3.65 GPA in political science with a minor in Spanish, Duvall was a starter in left field for the Bobcats this season, playing in 37 games with 32 starts. Duvall hit .231 with nine runs scored and four RBI. The senior was also 9-for-10 in stolen base attempts.
Duvall now moves on to the national Division II ballot, with Academic All-American winners to be announced later this month. She is just the sixth GC Softball player to earn district honors, the last being Mandy Chandler and Lindsey Swanson in 2009.
The Bobcats showed much improvement in 2012, finishing 25-24 with a 9-11 PBC mark, good for seventh and a PBC playoff spot after holding the top spot in the conference standings early in the season. GC put three players on the all-region teams as Haley Burnett (Columbus, Ga.), Whitney Okvist (Kennesaw, Ga.) and Kelsea Martin (Dacula, Ga.) all took honors.
