    Georgia College Athletics Puts 96 on PBC Presidential Honor Roll MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) announced its Presidential Honor Roll recipients, with 96 Georgia College student-athletes making the list. The program honors all student-athletes with a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the 2012-13 academic year.

    Bellantoni and Humphries Earn PBC All-Academic Honorable Mention AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) recently released the 2013 Softball All-Academic team as senior Natalie Bellantoni (Oviedo, Fla.) and sophomore Kristen Humphries (Columbus, Ga.) of the Georgia College softball team (37-17) each earned honorable mentions. This is the third year in a row that Georgia College has had representatives on the PBC All-Academic team.

    Okvist Named to Louisville Slugger NFCA All-Region Team LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Louisville Slugger National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region team was recently announced and Georgia College junior outfielder Whitney Okvist (Kennesaw, Ga.) was named to the second team in the Southeast Region. Okvist becomes just the second two-time NFCA All-Region outfielder for the Bobcats.

    Late Inning Rally Comes Up Just Short, Bobcats Lose to Trojans 7-5 HICKORY, N.C. – Less than 24-hours after they defeated the No. 2-seed and host team, Lenoir-Rhyne University, the No. 7-seed Georgia College softball team (37-16) returned to the field to take on the No 6-seed Anderson University (39-13). The Trojans jumped out to an early lead and despite a late inning rally by the Bobcats, Anderson held on for a 7-5 victory.

It was the second time the two teams faced off in as many days. The Bobcats would take a lead early, but fall short in the end, 4-3.

The Bobcats started off the 2013 tournament with a bang, scoring multiple runs in innings four times and defeating the Bears by a score of 10-1.

Gallucci now sits tied with Shanteona Keys (Roswell, Ga.) of GC women’s basketball for the most times honored during the 2012-13 school year.

AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Georgia College softball team (36-15) entered the semifinal round of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament Sunday afternoon facing USC Aiken (25-21). The Bobcats finished with a 4-3 walk-off victory, their second of that variety in as many days. They would return to the field less than an hour later to battle Columbus State University (39-16) for the PBC Title, but the Bobcats would drop the game by a score of 12-0.

AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The No. 2-seed Georgia College softball team (35-14) entered the bottom of the 11th inning locked in a 1-1 tie with No. 7-seed Francis Marion University (25-25) when freshman Taylor Campbell (Warner Robbins, Ga.) stepped into the batter’s box. Campbell came to the plate with one out in the inning and after fouling off the first pitch she deposited the next one over the left field fence for the win.

    Grodecki Earns Coach of the Year, Three Bobcats Named All-PBC ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) announced the end of season awards for softball at the pre-tournament banquet Friday evening and four members of the Georgia College softball team (34-14) were given accolades. Junior Whitney Okvist (Kennesaw, Ga.) and senior Dani Gallucci (Orlando, Fla.) were named All-PBC First Team while freshman Abi LeRoy (Dublin, Ga.) was named to the second team. Head coach Jamie Grodecki rounded out the Bobcat awards as she was named PBC Coach of the Year.

The single elimination tournament is hosted by Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla. and pits the top eight softball teams in the PBC against each other.

In the second game the two teams were deadlocked 0-0 going into the sixth inning, but the Saints pulled ahead late and won 4-0.

The Bobcats scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning to win the first game 8-6 and ran away with the second game 7-0.
