MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College softball team (35-15) will hold a viewing party for the NCAA Regional Selection Show Monday, May 8 beginning at 10:15 a.m. at the Den in the basement of the Magnolia Ballroom. The selection show begins at 10:30 a.m.
The Bobcats are vying for an at-large bid into the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament, after ranking No. 7 in the most recent regional poll. The NCAA Regional Tournament is set to begin Friday, May 10 with action scheduled to continue through the weekend.
The NCAA takes the top-8 teams in the region and splits them into two sub-regionals, with the No. 1-seed and No. 2-seed both hosting the action. The No. 1, 4, 5 and 8-seeds compete at one location, while the No. 2, 3, 6 and 7-seeds head to the other.
The most recent trip to the NCAA Regionals for GC softball was the 2009 season. The Bobcats have won the region title twice, coming in 2006 and 2003.
