AUGUSTA, Ga. – Senior pitcher Dani Gallucci (Orlando, Fla.) of the Georgia College softball team (14-10, 2-2 PBC) was named Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Pitcher of the Week.
She was nearly unhittable, pitching two complete games, including an extra-inning outing against Francis Marion University. She struck out 16 and didn’t allow a run. Gallucci tossed 15 innings of shutout ball over her two games.
She faced off against Fort Valley State University Thursday, Feb. 28 and held the Wildcats to three hits while striking out nine batters. Gallucci’s second outing was even more impressive, this time facing off against Francis Marion University. Gallucci held the Patriots to four hits over the eight-inning complete game shutout. She faced only five batters over the minimum and needed only 83 pitches for the win.
Gallucci has pitched 47 2/3 innings on the year, making nine appearances and six starts, with an impressive six complete games. She lowered her ERA to 1.03 after her efforts this week, third in the PBC. She’s walked a paltry four batters (first in the PBC) on the year while striking out 38 (11th).
The Bobcats return to the field Wednesday, March 6 at 4 p.m. when they hit the road to take on Georgia Southwestern State University.
