MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The 2012 Georgia College Alumni Softball Game was played Saturday, Oct. 20 and held a special purpose this year. The game was played in honor of former Bobcat Kristen Pierce.
A catcher for Georgia College from 1997-99, she passed away in March of 2006 after a battle with Leukemia. Pierce was well-liked by her teammates and other fellow athletes on campus.
The game was played between current Bobcat softball players and alumni athletes in a friendly showdown. Alumni and current members of the softball team wore orange ribbons in honor of Pierce. In addition to the ribbons, the bases were painted orange.
Bobcat softball will start their season Feb. 2 when they host the 2013 Bobcat Blast, a four-team weekend-long tournament.
