MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – In an effort to give back to the Baldwin County community, the Georgia College softball team helped out at the annual Georgia College Potato Drop Saturday, Oct. 26.
Bobcat softball been a part of this event each of the last two seasons, where a dump truck load of potatoes are unloaded and volunteers bag them up for needy families.
"It's important for our student-athletes to understand the crucial need there is at volunteer efforts in their community," said head coach Jamie Grodecki. "Our girls had a lot of fun, and worked hard to help out the less fortunate."
Ever interested in the surrounding community, the next event for Bobcat softball will be a Toys for Tots Drive at the GC men's basketball home opener Monday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level.
