MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Junior Chimere Jordan (Gray, Ga.) of the Georgia College & State University women's hoops team (14-5, 7-2 PBC) was named the Peach Belt Conference's (PBC) Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 31, as announced by the conference yesterday (Feb. 1). This is the second such honor for Jordan and the Bobcats this season, the first coming Jan. 11.
Jordan was sensational in three games for the Bobcats, averaging 22.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 50 percent from the floor and 53 percent from three-point range. The junior started with 16 points and seven boards in a win over Flagler College, then had 28 points and eight boards in a loss to Francis Marion University. Jordan finished the week with 24 points and four rebounds against UNC Pembroke in a win. She hit nine of 17 three-pointers on the week and missed only one of the 20 free throws she attempted. She also added 3.0 assists and 1.0 blocks per game.
With that effort she has moved into sixth in the PBC in scoring (15.6) and is also fourth in three-pointers made (43) and ninth in three-point percentage (.387). She also leads the PBC in free-throw percentage with .851.
The Bobcats are back in action at home Wednesday, Feb. 3 against West Division opponent North Georgia at 5:30 p.m.
