MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College women's basketball team (8-2, 0-2 PBC) dropped a hard-fought matchup to the No. 5 Clayton State University Lakers (14-0, 3-0 PBC), despite holding their own for most of Saturday's game at the Centennial Center.
The Bobcats led 40-35 with 8:14 left in the game. However, poor shot selection and costly turnovers proved to be the deciding factor as Clayton State was able to mount a 15-0 run in the next several minutes en route to the 53-42 victory.
Senior Chimere Jordan (Gray, Ga.) led the way for the Bobcats with 21 points and eight rebounds. This marks the fifth consecutive game Jordan has scored at least 20 points, including 18 straight in double-digits.
The Bobcats also played some stifling defense, limiting the Laker offense to just 35 percent shooting (20-57) for the game. Unfortunately, Georgia College was equally as cold from the floor, shooting just 26 percent (13-50), unable to muster enough points for the win.
