Bobcats Finish Regular Season #4 in Region

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College women's basketball team (20-6) remained No. 4 in the most recent NCAA Division II Southeast Region Poll released Wednesday, March 2.

The Bobcats sit behind three fellow Peach Belt Conference (PBC) members, Clayton State University, Lander University and USC Aiken.  To no surprise, GC will accompany these three schools at the PBC Tournament Final Four in Aiken, S.C. this weekend.

Georgia College continued to receive votes in the most recent USA Today/ESPN Division II Poll, garnering six points. 

Clayton State, Lander and USC Aiken are ranked No. 1, No. 4 and No. 12 respectively. 

The GC defense continues to be recognized as one of the nation's best, ranking eighth in field-goal percentage defense at 33.6 percent.  The Bobcats are also No. 12 in scoring defense, allowing just 54.3 points a game.

Head coach Maurice Smith's 'Cats also have a collection of individual stars to go along with that strong team defense, with numerous players ranking high in various categories. 

Senior Chimere Jordan (Gray, Ga.) is currently third in the country scoring 21.2 points a game. Jordan also ranks No. 15 in steals per game, accounting for 3.1. 

With a conference-leading 4.8 assists a game, sophomore Karisma Boykin (Carrollton, Ga.) sits No. 31 in the country.

The Bobcats will head to Aiken, S.C. to take on No. 4 Lander University this Saturday, March 5 at 1 p.m. in a PBC Semifinal match up.
