GC Women’s Basketball Earns Seventh Spot in PBC Preseason Poll

MARTINEZ, Ga. – The Georgia College women’s basketball team earned the seventh spot as the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Women’s Basketball preseason poll was released this past week.

The Bobcats picked up two fourth place votes en route to 75 points, just one shy of UNC Pembroke. GC edged North Georgia by a pair, with Georgia Southwestern State University taking ninth.

Defending National Champions Clayton State University pulled in 11 of a possible 12 first place votes to come in first in the poll with 143 points, 13 ahead of Lander University. Rounding out the top three was USC Aiken.

The Bobcats return just two starters from last year’s PBC Tournament Champions, as sophomore forwards Krysta Lewis (Woodstock, Ga.) and Abby Slocumb (Suwanee, Ga.) lead the charge.

GC is back in action Thursday, Nov. 3 at 5 p.m., traveling to nearby Mercer University for the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. The event is free and open to the public, with donations encouraged for Cancer Research.
