GC Women’s Hoops Inks Manning
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College women's basketball program and head coach Maurice Smith are proud to announce the addition of Alexia Manning for the 2014-15 season.
The Columbus, Ga. native netted 1,552 career points for Columbus High while playing for head coach Joe Cherrone, and was chosen to the GWSA All-State First Team. A Region 5-AAAA Player of the Year and first team selection, she also earned a spot on the All-Bi-City First Team and was the Bi-City Most Valuable Player.
"We are very excited about the addition of Alexia to our program," said Smith. "She is a very dynamic guard who has great scoring ability. She is terrific shooter and attacks the basket really well. She is going to be a terrific student athlete for us over the next four years."
Her team went 30-2 last season, taking Region AAAA State Runner-Up honors and were Region Champions. A National Honor Society member, Manning plans to major in psychology.
The Bobcats went 18-11 in the 2013-14 season, advancing to the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament title game by beating the East No. 1 and West No. 2 seed along the way. Rising seniors Shanteona Keys (Roswell, Ga.) and Enisha Donley (Loganville, Ga.) were each named to the All-PBC Teams.
