GC Women’s Basketball Receives Preseason Region Points
QUEENS, N.C. -- The Georgia College Women’s Basketball team earned four points in this week’s preseason region rankings released by the Division II Sports Informtion Directors Association (D2SIDA). This puts them five points away from the number 10 spot currently held by Lincoln Memorial Universiy with nine points.
Head Coach Maurice Smith has an experienced group of seniors that are returning for their final season. Forward Sydney Cleveland (Gainesville, Georgia) and guard Shay Tarver (Covington, Georgia) will be a threat on the perimeter this year. Both players averaged over 32 percent from behind the arc last year.
Forward, Erin Drynan (Chicago, Illinois) makes her presence known in the post. Last year she averaged 7.7 rebounds per game and nearly three blocks per game as well.
The seniors this year are no doubt a big reason that Georgia College has received points in the preseason region poll.
The Bobcats start their season Friday, Nov. 9 against Wingate University at Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia.
