MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The 2018-19 campaign for Georgia College Women's Basketball gets underway this weekend at the SAC/PBC Challenge in Morrow. The Bobcats will take on No. 21 Wingate University Friday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m., then finish the classic with Anderson University Saturday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.
The Bobcats are coming off an 18-12 season that ended in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Semifinals. Georgia College went 14-8 in league play, good for fifth in the league standings.
Back is plenty of firepower as the Bobcats retain three of their top four scorers from a year ago, led by senior Erin Drynan (Chicago, Illinois). Drynan averaged 10.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest, that latter number ranking eighth in the league. She also swatted 86 shots to rank second in the PBC.
Senior guard Shay Tarver (Covington) also returns, averaging 10.3 points per game a season ago, she exploded for 33 points at Francis Marion University Feb. 24, the most points by a Bobcat since the 2010-11 season. Classmate Sydney Cleveland (Gainesville) averaged 9.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest in 2017-18, finishing 11th in the league in threes with 52.
The Bobcats have 12 home matchups on the schedule, beginning with Albany State University Dec. 8 at 3 p.m.
