MARTINEZ, Ga. - Junior Morgan Cobb (Cataula, Ga.) of the Georgia College & State University soccer team (0-0-1) was named Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday (Sept. 3). This PBC honor is the first for Cobb after being awarded 2007 all-conference and all-region team last season.

Cobb was a strong force for the Bobcats in their first game against Belmont Abbey College that resulted in a 0-0 tie. In the 110 minute game, including two overtime periods, Cobb lead a defensive line that only allowed two unsuccessful shots to be taken on goalkeeper Mary Rob Plunkett (Augusta, Ga.). Belmont Abbey's Celene Molera won the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week two days after facing GCSU for her performance against Clayton State University but against the Bobcats and Cobb, Molera did not take a single shot.
