MARTINEZ, Ga.- Sophomores Ally Treat (Fayetteville, Ga.) and Mary Rob Plunkett (Augusta, Ga.) from the Georgia College & State University soccer team were named defender and goalkeeper of the week by the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Sept. 9. The PBC honor is the first for both Treat and Plunkett.
Plunkett allowed one goal in 180 minutes in net over two games as the Bobcats went 2-0. She had three saves in the 2-1 victory over Tusculum College Friday, Sept. 5. She snagged two saves in the defensive domination Sunday, Sept. 7 against Limestone College. Plunkett has played every minute of all three games for Georgia College and is second in the PBC with a 0.31 GAA.
Treat was a stalwart in the defensive midfield in the 1-0 win over Limestone Sunday. The 5-foot-9 sophomore was a physical presence that allowed the Bobcats to control the Lady Saints, keeping the pressure off the defensive half. She contributed to the 22-4 shot disparity and was part of a defense that allowed just two shots to reach the goalkeeper. Against Tusculum Friday, the Bobcats out-shot the Pioneers 11-8 as well. The Georgia College defense has allowed only one goal in three games.
The Bobcats are back in action Thursday, Sept. 11 at Bobcat Field with a 7 p.m. start time against the University of Montevallo.
