MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Junior defender Kara Teresi (Tampa, Fla.) of the Georgia College & State University soccer team (6-1-1, 0-1 PBC) was named GCSU Athlete of the Week, the sports information office announced today (Sept. 30). The award honors the top performance by a Bobcat during the week ending Sept. 28. This is the first such honor for Teresi and the second for the Bobcat soccer team this season.
Teresi co-anchored the middle of a defensive line that posted three shutouts this week. The team had a 75-14 shot disparity over the three games, with just eight of those 14 shots reaching Bobcat goalkeepers. On Sunday, Teresi helped shut down a prolific goal scorer in Tassia Augusto from the University of North Alabama. She entered the game with 14 goals on the season (averaging 1.5 goals per game), including a five-goal contest, but against the Bobcat defense she mustered just one shot. Teresi's defensive line has yet to allow a goal at home this season.
Teresi and the rest of the Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. hosting Lander University.
