MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - No. 20 Georgia College & State University soccer team (11-1-3, 4-1-1 PBC) shut-out Clayton State University (1-13-1, 1-6 PBC) 6-0 for Senior Night at Bobcat Field.

Senior forward Hayley Ferrell (Hampton, Ga.) came ready to play tonight with two assists and two goals contributing to the 10th shutout of the season, a school record. She leads the Bobcats with nine goals and five assists for the season.

The first goal of the night came during the 13th minute from junior Jamie Nevin (Grovetown, Ga.), her first of the season. Nevin's goal was the only one in the first half Laker goalkeeper Whitney Jowers allowed. She snagged three Georgia College shots in the first period.

The Bobcat defense was lights out allowing only two shots from the Lakers all night, both coming in the second period. Sophomore Mary Rob Plunkett (Augusta, Ga.) occupied the Georgia College net for 63:50 tonight with one save in the second half. Kristen Moore (Newnan, Ga.) saw 26:10 on her Senior Night tacking up a save for the Bobcats.

Despite a low scoring first half, the Bobcats netted five goals after half time. At 51:42, senior Jeni Day (Marietta, Ga.) sailed one in after a pass got by Jowers. Ferrell and Erika Kolodin (Acworth, Ga.) hooked up to assist with Day's fifth goal of the season. The assist was Kolodin's first of the year. Less than three minutes later, in a fast break straight down the middle Ferrell's incoming pass found the foot of Megan McAlpin (Newnan, Ga.), netting her fourth this season.

After 58:19 of play, Chelsea Bettis came in for Clayton State relieving Jowers. Bettis played 31:41 allowing three goals and saving two.

In the 74th minute, a foul on Clayton State gave Georgia College a free kick taken by Kelli McLane (Lawrenceville, Ga.). She launched it pass Bettis to score the fourth goal of the night and her third for the season.

The last two goals of the night belonged to Ferrell. Her first goal at 78:07 was off a free kick, the Bobcats second free kick goal of the night. In the 82nd minute, Ferrell struck again with an assist by Day when the keeper was taken out of the play.
